These terms cover your use of this PhaseBoard instance — the public pages and the signed-in application behind them.

Not legal advice — and not written by a lawyer

These terms were written by the developer who built PhaseBoard, to describe honestly how the service is offered. He is not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, and the page has not yet been reviewed by a qualified professional. That review is planned before any payment is taken.

Where a term below would matter in a dispute, treat it as a statement of intent rather than as tested drafting — and read section 09, which says plainly what this document does not decide.

Who the agreement is with.

PhaseBoard is operated by one person, Umair Mahmood. There is no company behind it.

Using the service — reading these pages, joining the waitlist, or signing in to the application — means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

“We” below means that one operator, and “you” means whoever is using the service, including any AI agent acting under your account.

Accounts are granted, not registered.

There is no self-serve signup. An account exists because the operator created it, and access can be granted or withdrawn the same way.

Keep your password to yourself and tell the operator promptly if you think someone else has it.
You are responsible for what happens under your account — including what an AI agent does with a token you issued. A token acts with your identity inside the scopes you gave it, so grant the narrowest set that works and revoke one you no longer need.
Do not share an account. If someone else needs access, they need their own.
Joining the waitlist is not an account and grants no access.

What it costs.

The board is free to use. Everything the product does today — projects, tasks, phases, project documents, design review, organizations, the REST API and the MCP server — is included at no charge.

There is no billing in this product. Nothing takes a payment, no card is stored, no subscription exists and no usage is metered, so no fee is payable and none can be. The intention is that a future paid tier will cover AI features layered on top of the board.

If that arrives, it will be optional, it will be described on the pricing page before it applies to anyone, and the free board will stay free. Nothing here is a promise that a particular feature will ship, or when.

Acceptable use.

Do not try to reach a project, organization, document or account you have not been given access to, or probe the API to find out what exists.
Do not attempt to disrupt the service — no denial-of-service, no attempt to break out of the sandbox the design viewer runs in, no attempt to bypass rate limits.
Do not upload malware, or content that is unlawful where you or the operator are.
Do not use the service to store data you are not permitted to store elsewhere, or that carries obligations the operator has not agreed to — this is a small self-hosted tool, not a compliance-certified platform.
Automated use through the API and the MCP server is expressly welcome; that is what the product is for. It is still your responsibility, and the rate limits apply to it.

Your content stays yours.

You keep every right you already had in the tasks, documents, comments and files you put into PhaseBoard.

You give the operator only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your content, to show it to the people you have given access to, and to keep it in the version history and the private offsite backup the product uses. That permission is not used for anything else — not for training a model, not for marketing, not for analysis.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. The privacy policy explains where the content is kept and what removal can and cannot undo.

Availability: as-is, with no guarantee.

This is one instance run by one person, in private preview. Please plan accordingly.

There is no uptime commitment, no service-level agreement and no guaranteed response time. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, or because something broke at an inconvenient hour.
Features may change or be removed. The API is versioned so that a change to it is visible rather than silent, but the product is still early.
The version history doubles as an offsite backup, which is not the same thing as a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
The service could be discontinued. If that happens, the intention is reasonable notice and a way to take your data with you.
Everything is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law where you are allows that.

Liability.

To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for lost profits, lost data or other indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for fraud, or for anything a consumer protection law where you live does not permit to be excluded.

Because the service is provided free of charge, there are no fees to measure a cap against; this is one of the specific points that deserves professional drafting before money is involved.

Ending it.

You can stop using PhaseBoard at any time and ask for your data to be removed through the contact page.

The operator may suspend or withdraw access for a serious or repeated breach of section 04, or where it is necessary to protect the service or other users. Accounts are deactivated rather than deleted, so a suspension can be reversed and the record of what happened is not lost.

What this document does not decide.

These terms name no governing law, no jurisdiction and no dispute resolution process. Choosing those is a legal decision with real consequences for both sides, and the person who wrote this page is not qualified to make it. It is one of the things the planned professional review has to settle.

Until then, nothing here is intended to take away a right you have under the law that applies to you.

Changes to these terms.

The date at the top of the page is the notice — there is no mailing list to announce a change on. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting the version published here.
